Going to your grandmother's funeral has one perk: getting to be around family you don't normally get to see.
Of course, I get to be with these two everyday, but I can't resist posting pictures of them:
And I get to see my momma pretty often too, which is great:
But...I don't get to see my Uncle Delton very often at all; and this was my very first time to meet his new bride, Rhonda!
Uncle Delton and Mom. My mom practically raised my uncle since she's 11 years older than he is. He's 21 and she's 32. Amazing, no?
If one awesome thing came out of Memaw's passing, it was that I was able to see one of my younger brothers for the first time in over 6 years. He hadn't changed a bit!
And I met his wife Jackie for the first time too! She's expecting my little niece or nephew in June 2012!
They're from Chicago and have crazy accents, but we don't hold it against 'em.
I also saw people (whom I'm somehow related to) that knew me from when I was a teeny little runt, but I had NO clue who they were. I got comments like this, "Oh is this little Lindsey?! Sweetheart, I ain't seen you since you was knee-high to a grasshopper. My you grown up!"
That's just how people in Brownwood, Texas, talk. We don't hold it against 'em, either.
